DESCRIPTION

The Rod of Radiant Life is an ancient artifact from a time when the world was stricken by a deadly plague. Thousands died before the clerics of the various churches could combat the spread of the plague. With so many dying, the stench of rotting flesh spread across the lands, making it ripe for evil clerics to raise the fallen as undead. So, not only was there a disease running rampant across the land, an undead plague began to emerge. 

Seeing the threat of thousands of undead creatures roaming freely across the lands, the great clerics of Sosa, Goddess of Haling and Miracles, united to forge a weapon that would enable a hero to remove the plague of disease and undead. Thus, the Rod of Radiant Life was constructed. 

The Rod of Radiant Life is a +3 greater disruption holy heavy mace. Lost for many centuries, it was recovered in a vault filled with lost artifacts of goodly persuasion and put into the hands of Clarn Azuremoon, hero of the Off-Worlder War. Upon his passing, the Rod of Radiant life vanished, but it is rumored to have reappeared during critical times to aid those in need of healing or protection from death effects.

POWERS

The Rod of Radiant Life uses powerful conjuring (healing) magic, and grants the following spell-like abilities. 

Spell-Like Abilities
    • At willdetect poison, stabilize, virtue
    • 3/day–cure moderate wounds, delay disease, delay poison, lesser restoration
    • 2/day–cure serious wounds, neutralize poison, remove disease, restoration
    • 1/day–breath of life, cure critical wounds, death to undeath, death ward
    • 1/week–greater restoration, heal, raise dead
    • 1/month–mass cure moderate wounds, resurrection
    The Rod of Radiant Life also grants the wielder a +10 sacred bonus on all Heal skill checks. 

    SPECIAL ABILITIES

    Guardian of the Soul The Rod of Radiant Life grants the wielder a +4 sacred bonus on Will saving throws against channeled negative energy, death 
       effects, and inflict spells (any spell with “inflict” in its name). Anytime the wielder takes damage from channeled negative energy or an inflict spell, 
       she subtracts 5 from the damage taken (calculated after the wielder has rolled her Will save against the effect), to a minimum of 0 points of damage. 
       In addition, the Rod of Radiant Life can also absorb energy-draining attacks, death effects, and negative energy effects. Upon absorbing 12 such 
       attacks, the rod can no longer do so again for that individual.
    Life Giver The Rod of Radiant Life grants the wielder an increase in her power to channel positive energy or use healing magic. Whenever the wielder uses channeled positive energy or any cure spell (any spell with "cure" in its name), she adds 5 to the damage taken or healed, to the ability's or spell's a maximum effect.
