Most dwarves possess the typical traits and attributes common to their race. However, once every generation, a dwarf is born with a naturally resistance to toxins, disease, and magic. Lacking any propensity for the magic, aegis dwarves stand as bulwarks against arcane spellcasters and their racial enemies. As such, they rarely train in the arcane arts, and those who do must exert greater effort than other dwarves. Aegis An aegis dwarf has the same racial traits as a normal dwarf, except as noted below.
Aegis Dwarves Racial Traits (14 RP)
- Greater Spell Resistance: Aegis dwarves are naturally resistant to the spells and spell-like effects. They gain spell resistance equal to 11 + their character level. (3 RP)
- Indomitable Fortitude: Aegis dwarves gain a racial bonus on saving throws against disease and poison effects, including magical diseases, equal to their Hit Dice. This replaces the Hardy trait. (7 RP)
- Magical Deficit: Aegis dwarves are unskilled when it comes to arcane magic. They take a –4 penalty to all Knowledge (arcana) and Spellcraft skill checks related to arcane magic and spells. If aegis dwarves gain levels in an arcane spellcasting class (alchemist, bard, magus, etc.), their caster level is always equal to their class level –3 (minimum 1).(–5 RP)
- Terrain Sentinel: Aegis dwarves choose one terrain from the ranger’s list of favored terrains. They gain a +2 dodge bonus to AC when in their chosen terrain. This choice is made at character creation, and cannot be changed. (2 RP)
