Pixies are merry pranksters that love to lead travelers astray. They can, however, be roused to surprising ire when dealing with evil creatures. These sprites love to trick misers out of their wealth. They do not covet treasure themselves but use it to taunt and frustrate greedy folk. If a victim of pixie pranks exhibits no greed or demonstrates a good sense of humor, the tricksters may allow the individual to choose a reward from their hoard.
Physical Qualities: Pixies are a tiny race of elusive feyfolk with gossamer wings that stand 2 to 2–1/2 feet tall—though they typically fly about the eye level of creatures they're conversing with in order to maintain eye contact—and weigh 20-30 pounds. They resemble elves with whimsical features, pointed ears, blue or green eyes, and hair that ranges from brown and blonde, to auburn and black. Pixies wear bright clothing, often including a cap and shoes with curled and pointed toes. They rarely, if ever, wear any armor, as it hampers their ability to fly. Pixies talk quickly and easily become overexcited.
Society: Pixies (sometimes referred to as fairies) are the best-known and most elusive of all fey creatures, pixies live in the deepest, most pristine forests, but their insatiable curiosity often leads them far from home. They gather in tribes lead by powerful spellcasters who can keep their homes safe and hidden from the outside world. They tend to live in simple homes high in the bows of trees often situated near druid groves, magical springs, or mystical sites such as mushroom rings. They enjoy a variety of fresh fruits, berries, and nuts, and often assist small forest creatures to gather such food for their food stores.
Relations: Pixies are normally carefree. However, they ferociously attack evil creatures and unwanted intruders that enter their domain. They take full advantage of their invisibility and other abilities to harass and drive away opponents. As feyfolk, they get along well with animals, and other feyfolk like themselves. With their natural affinity to nature, they can often be found in the company of elves, gnomes, and half-elves who possess a similar affinity. . While they deem halflings as fellow tricksters, they are wary of humans and distrust dwarves. They see half-orcs as little more than tree-killers who ravage the natural world, much like their full-blooded kin
Alignment and Religion: Pixies tend to be pranksters, but they are not malicious. Instead, they see their trickery as good-hearted fun, but it also allows them to protect their homes, distract their enemies, and flee a losing battle without bringing harm to other sentient creatures. Thus, they tend to be neutral good, though some have a tendency to chaotic good. Pixies are not devout, but they revere nature in all its forms, and will seek out the favor of nature gods or the help of goodly druids who dwell nearby. Those who seek the path of piety will most often become druids themselves, laboring to ensure the nurvival and balance of the natural world at all cost.
Adventurers: Pixies prefer the quiet life, spending their time frolicking in the flora and fauna of the forest and trying to avoid contact with outsiders. However, those drawn to the road of adventure will always ally themselves with those of like mind, and because of their small stature, with those most able to protect them if the need should arise. They employ spells, trickery, and use the terrain to good use when hampering their foes. Thus, they favor classes that play to these strengths, such as the bard, ranger, rogue, and sorcerer to most other classes.
