Half-minotaurs are a militant race whose warriors are trained in a variety of combat techniques. Their battle mages are no different, as they focus on evocation spells and use their combat training to enhance and manipulate such spells
The battle mage has the following class features.
Battle Magic (Su): At 1st level, a battle mage can deal extra damage with his spells. Whenever a battle mage casts a spell that deals damage (magic missile, flaming sphere, etc.), he adds his Intelligence modifier to the spell’s total damage. If a spell deals damage multiple times to the same target, this extra damage is only applied once.
Spellstrike (Ex): At 2nd level, a battle mage may use this ability with a weapon or his gore attack.
Magus Arcana: A battle mage may select the following new magus arcana that are restricted to the Battle Mage half-minotaur racial archetype.
Enhance Battle Magic (Ex): The battle mage can add a new spell to his spell list, representing the result of personal study and experimentation. The spell must be a sorcerer/wizard spell of the abjuration, conjuration, or evocation school, and of a level no higher than that of the highest spell level the battle mage can cast. Once a new spell is selected, it is forever added to that battle mage’s spell list and can be cast just like any other spell on the magus spell list.
Magical Penetration (Su): The battle mage adds his Intelligence modifier on caster level checks to defeat spell resistance. This ability stacks with both Spell Penetration and Greater Spell Penetration.
Two-Pronged Attack (Su): The battle mage can use his arcane pool to split his ray attacks. Once per day as a swift action, when the battle mage casts a ray spell (ray of enfeeblement, scorching ray, etc.), he can spend 1 point from his arcane pool to channel the spell into his horns. This splits the spell into two separate ray effects. Each ray functions as the original spell, except that two of the same spell is cast twice simultaneously, originating from the battle mage’s horn tips. The battle mage can target the same creature or two separate creatures with each spell. This arcana may be selected multiple times. Each time he can use this arcana one additional time per day. The battle mage must be at least 6th level to select this arcana.
Bonus Feat: A battle mage adds the Impaling Charge and Minotaur’s Charge monster feats to the list of feats he can select as bonus feats.
Battle Pool (Su): At 7th level, when a battle mage prepares his magus spells, he can decide to expend 1 or more points from his arcane pool, up to his Intelligence bonus. For each point he expends, he can treat any one spell from the magus or sorcerer/wizard spell list as if it were in his spellbook and can prepare that spell as normal that day. Only sorcerer/wizard spells from the abjuration, conjuration, or evocation schools of 6th level and lower can be prepared in this way. If a spell appears on both the magus and wizard spell lists, the battle mage uses the lower of the two spell levels listed for the spell. If he does not cast spells prepared in this way before the next time he prepares spells, he loses those spells. He can also cast spells added in this way using his spell recall ability, but only until he prepares spells again. This ability replaces knowledge pool.
Improved Battle Magic (Su): At 8th level, whenever a battle mage casts a spell that deals damage (magic missile, flaming sphere, etc.), he adds 1/2 his battle mage level + his Intelligence modifier to the spell’s total damage. This ability supersedes the battle magic ability and replaces improved spell combat.
Greater Battle Magic (Su): At 14th level, whenever a battle mage casts a spell that deals damage (magic missile, flaming sphere, etc.), he adds his battle mage level + his Intelligence modifier to the spell’s total damage. This ability supersedes the improved battle magic ability and replaces greater spell combat.
Spell Reduction (Su): At 16th level, a battle mage becomes resilient to damage spells. He reduces the total damage of any spell that deals hit point damage to him by an amount equal to his battle mage level. If the spell has an area of effect (such as fireball), the spells total damage is also reduced by this amount for any allies within the spell’s effect. This ability replaces counterstrike.
Greater Spell Access (Su): This is exactly like the magus ability of the same name, except that the spells that the battle mage learns must be spells that deal damage.
True Warmage (Su): At 20th level, a battle mage becomes a master of battle magic. The spell level cost for applying metamagic feats to evocation spells on the battle mage’s spell list is reduced by 2 (minimum 1). In addition, a battle mage can cast evocations spells on his spell list using the Intensified Spell metamagic feat without increasing the level of the spell a number of times per day equal to his Intelligence modifier. This ability replaces true magus.
