The Wananakas (wä-nä-nä’-käz) are island dwellers, living on a system of tropical islands to the west of the continent. The islands consist of jungle, savannah, and wetland regions. The people are scattered throughout the islands, gathered in family groups who live in close proximity to one another. They generally dwell in large grass huts, while only the most prominent people live in tree houses high in the palm trees within the village. As an island nation, they rely on their special boats to travel between the islands and explore the reef, hunt for fish, and seek out other resources found beneath the seas.
