SPECIAL ABILITIES
Combat Trained (Ex)
Some firemares are trained for use as special mounts for the Aestivic Knight (paladin archetype), and cannot be ridden by non-Aestivic Knights unless they make a successful Ride check (DC 15). Unless specifically trained for combat (see the Handle Animal skill), a firemare's hooves are treated as secondary attacks.
Fast Movement (Ex)
The firemare’s land speed is faster than the norm for a horse of its type by +10 feet.
Firestride (Su)
While a firemare’s hooves are aflame, it can walk or gallop through the air up to 5 feet above the ground. This also allows the firemare to bridge crevasses or canyons of up to 30 feet wide plus an additional 10 feet per Hit Dice without plummeting to the ground.
Flaming Hooves (Su)
The firemare can shroud its hooves in flames as a free action. This allows its hooves to deal an extra +1d6 points of fire damage.
ECOLOGY
Environment warm hills, mountains, and plains
Organization solitary, pair, or herd (6–10)
Treasure none
Firemare horses are similar to heavy horses and can be specifically trained for combat with the Handle Animal skill. Firemare horses stand 5 to 6 feet tall at the shoulder and weigh between 1,000 and 1,500 pounds.
