DESCRIPTION
This +5 drow bane holy huntsman keen elven war blade is an ancient artifact from the Elf-kin War and was wielded by Narnel, a renowned king of the elven kingdom of Eushonéva. Crafted by powerful clerics and blessed by divine investiture, the sword became a symbol of the surface elves' victory over their corrupt kin, the drow.
Soulsinger is forged from elven whitesteel and etched with elven runes of holy power. Drow (and drow only) who come within 60 feet of this blade, whether they are invisible, ethereal, hidden, disguised, or the like, causes the weapon to vibrate, alerting the wielder to their presence and general direction in which they can be found, much like a rod of enemy detection. Soulsinger is well known in the verbal history of the drow, and the mere mention of its name has been known to cause fear in the hearts of even the most hardened drow warriors. As such, it was forged for the explicit purpose of slaying drow, and if it strikes such a creature on a critical hit, the target must make a DC 25 Fortitude save or take 50 points of damage, much like an arrow of slaying.

HISTORY
Originally named Anánduil, the sword quickly came to be called Soulsinger, which has come to be its most common name. Following the Elf-kin War, the sword was passed from father to son through the royal lineage of kings, and mounted in a place of honor in the throne room above the seat of rulership. There it stayed for many centuries, to serve as a reminder to the elven people of the treachery of their dark elven brothers. Unfortunately, the sword mysteriously disappeared from its appointed resting place over 2,000 years ago and was lost from the world for many centuries.
However, whether by chance or divine design, it was recovered by the powerful elven hero of the Off-Worlder War, Aragast Anadriel, and his companions, from within a powerful magical vault located deep underground in a cavern known as the Cave of Darkness. Once recovered, Aragast wielded the sword throughout the war, and throughout his life, to this very day. However, on occasion, the sword will venture forth, appearing to aid those in need of its power, and once its mission is completed, it returns again to its master.
